Favorite Places
I don’t get around a lot, but I’ve been to some neat places and have done a little bit of world travel. Here are the places I’ve most enjoyed.
- Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. Nothing like it. I could spend days there.
- Florence, Italy. Was there on my 15th anniversary. Would gladly go again. The “David” statue was magnificent.
- Gettysburg Battlefield. First went with my family as a kid, then with a school field trip. Pam and I were there a couple years ago.
- Branson, Missouri. Been there four times, never get tired of it.
- St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican. It’s huge, just huge
- Grand Canyon. Been there twice. Nothing compares. Totally awesome.
- Yosemite National Park. Camped there for a week when I was a kid
- Coliseum in Rome. Visited the same year I saw “Gladiator”
- Macau. A very interesting, packed city. We have mission work there.
- Market in Masaya, Nicaragua. The markets in Thailand and Honduras had a lot of cheap import stuff from China and elsewhere. The Masaya market was nearly all local stuff, and various other aspects of the place made it unique.
- Wrigley Field. Been there just twice. I think the Cubs lost both times.
- Passion Play in Oberamargau, Germany. In July 2000, and it snowed that morning. But a once-in-a-lifetime thing.
- Barbados. Went there on our honeymoon, as part of a cruise. Best beach I’ve ever seen.
- Chiang Mei, Thailand. Right on the border of Myanmar. Great shopping.
- Niagara Falls. Hey, it’s Niagara Falls.
- Tombstone, Ariz. Love the old west. Went with my family as a kid, and with Pam in 2002.
